Position Description:
· The candidate will be responsible for managing a team of highly motivated web, C#/.NET, and mainframe software developers; for day-to-day production support of a number of critical applications running on a variety of platforms; and for managing the migration of legacy systems to a new platform.
· He/she should have the ability to guide and mentor the team;
· Maintain effective relationships with business owners; understand the business case;
· Work collaboratively with IT colleagues;
· Manage all phases of the software development life-cycle;
· Manage multiple on-going projects within tight timeframes.
· The candidate will be interacting with a culturally and technically diverse community which includes mainframe and web, C#/.NET developers, engineering teams, user communities, and executive management.
· The position requires proven leadership skills, technical management skills, business knowledge, and vision.
· He/she should have superior communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
Skills Required:
· BS with advanced degree preferred
· Must have 10+ years significant experience in software development,
· Must have 5+ years managing technical teams in distributed, C#/.NET), and mainframe environments
· Must have prior hands-on software development experience as programmer
· A proven track record of delivering highly available systems and quality software products or components.
· Experience at leading development life cycle process and best practices
· Excellent written/verbal communication, presentation, and listening skills
· Experience in performing tuning, code profiling, code review, hands on experience using Best Patterns and Practices.
· Experience in technical Leadership (Architecture, Analysis, Design, Testing strategies).
· Must be skilled at Project Risk Management (Identification, Tracking, prevention / handling).
Skills Desired:
· Brokerage/Financial Industry Experience a Plus
· Mainframe and .NET hands-on experience a Plus
· Project experience with C#/.NET and Mainframe technology is required.
Note from the manager:
The hiring manager is looking for a Project Manager with the ability to manage a team of 12 developers. The technology being used is a combination of .NET/C# and Mainframe. Candidates should come out of a development background and have project experience with both the C#/.NET technology and Mainframe technology. They also need to have financial industry experience.
