The Open Group has been in contact with FIX through memebrs of our Security Program Group. From the recent additions to the FIX site regarding Certification it occurs to me that The Open Group shoud offer to collaborate more closely with FIX in this area.
Briefly, The Open Group is a consortium of about 200 companies which collaborate on building specifications, developing test suites and licensing a "brand" name to denote acceptence of a certification procedure.
The Open Group is best known for its certification program for UNIX. Recently it has collaborated with OMG on the testing and certification of the CORBA 2.1 ORB. Current work is focused on the interoperability testing for LDAP directory servers, the CDSA security architecture and the Wireless Application Protocol (in collaboration with the WAP) forum.
We would be pleased to share some of our experience (particularly on the legal aspects of certification) and make further detailed proposals for running a testing and conformance operation.
