FIX-over-TLS (FIXS) is a technical standard that specifies how to use the Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol with FIX. It provides some standardization and ensures a minimum level of security is applied. We believe FIXS will make it easier for FIX participants to employ TLS and hope that this will help to improve security across the industry. Since FIXS Version 1.0, TLS v1.3 has been published, and security technologies have advanced on other fronts. Meanwhile, older versions of TLS have been deprecated. The Cybersecurity Working Group is reviewing and updating the FIXS V1.0 standard with a view to producing V1.1, this release candidate marks the first public view of that update.

This release candidate now enters a public comment period in which public review and feedback is encouraged. The public comment period will run for a period of 90 days beginning on the 22nd of February 2021.
