PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD – FIX Protocol Gap Analysis – Unique Product Identifier Extension

The Global Technical Committee has reviewed and preliminarily approved the Extension for Unique Product Identifier v0.2 Gap Analysis.

In order to improve transparency, mitigate systemic risk and protect against market abuse on a global basis, the Financial Stability Board (FSB) have requested the development and implementation of an internationally recognized Unique Product Identifier (UPI) for over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives. The UPI is required to be common across all G20 jurisdictions and is therefore designed to support the global aggregation of transaction and position data reported to Trade Repositories (TRs) covered by G20 regulatory authorities.

The document now enters a public comment period in which public review and feedback is encouraged. Once the public comment period closes, the Global Technical Governance Board will meet to review public comments before final approval.

Please post feedback, comments, and questions as replies to this discussion thread. A link to the proposal can be found at: https://www.fixtrading.org/packages/fix-protocol-gap-analysis-extension-for-unique-product-identifier/

The public comment period ends on April 8, 2021.
