Job Description:
The Quality Assurance (QA) Manager reports to the Director of Technology and is tasked to provide an objective, independent view of quality and execution of enhancements, new products and bug-fixes The QA manager will direct the overall Quality Assurance process for the firm, and will interface and coordinate with all project levels of staff including Product Analysts, Developers, Customer Support and Account Managers.
The candidate will manage a team of professionals responsible for unit, user acceptance, performance, and regression testing of software. The QA manager will be responsible to proactively manage and structure the QA environment and all related processes. This role will encompass reporting and managing software issues and test activities throughout the software development lifecycle, developing and executing test plans, test scripts, and test cases, and coordinating the activities of all groups involved in the QA process.
Technically, this position requires extensive ‘hands on’ C and Java experience in a LINUX / Sybase environment, with some shell scripting. Knowledge of trading products is a requirement. Experience in Equities, Foreign Exchange and middle and back office processing, and particularly experience working with Order Management Systems are very significant qualifications for this position.
Required Skills:
· Experience in evaluating, implementing and maintaining software quality processes
· Ability to develop, review and maintain metrics and perform quality audits
· Ability to understand and review technical documentation, including Project plans, test procedures, and design documents
· Experience with Order Management and Trading Systems
· Understanding of FIX, CMS, and other standard exchange message formats is a significant plus
· UNIX/Linux operating system and inter-process communications
· C++ and Java programming in multithreaded environment
· Sybase experience is a plus
Desired Qualifications:
· American Society for Quality (ASQ) CQE, CSQE or CQA is a plus. Experience in a CMM or CMMI level 3 or higher organization.
· Background in Software and/or Systems Engineering development and procedures
· experience with, or knowledge of SEI-CMMI is a significant plus
A successful candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Practical risk management skills and the ability to provide advice with real world testing and execution problems are requirements to be successful. An aspirant should possess an exemplary work ethic and the ability to operate in a high performing team that makes commitments and delivers on them.
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited college is strongly preferred. At least five years related professional experience within the trading & investment industry is required.
