Summary Job Description
As a senior member of the software development organization, the QA Manager is responsible for delivering and maintaining enterprise software systems by identifying, reporting and tracking all problems in the software produced by the development teams.

Responsibilities
· The QA manager is responsible for the successful testing of various software systems to ensure that the software is delivered on time and with as few defects as possible
· The QA manager establishes and improves best practices in quality assurance, working with project, development, and product managers
· The QA manager encourages continuous improvements in proficiency and efficiency of the QA engineers by setting the overall vision and specific objectives and hands-on mentoring, including in technical areas
· The QA manager advocates and effects change throughout the organization to pursue quality improvements in all systems and processes

Qualifications
· BA/BS Computer Science degree or equivalent experience
· Minimum of 5 years of multi-tier software development experience
· Minimum of 3 years of QA management experience with at least 5 QA engineers
· Excellent written and verbal communications skills along with presentation skills
· Effective facilitation skills
· Experience interacting with project managers, development managers, and product managers
· Demonstrated ability to work in a team oriented environment
· Demonstrated ability to identify options, make trade-offs, and execute on decisions
· Demonstrated ability to gather consensus through negotiation
· Highly developed critical thinking and risk analysis skills
· Demonstrated leadership and organization skills in a growing organization
· Extensive work experience with the software development process and its integration with the QA process
· Financial industry experience (knowledge of the FIX protocol is a plus)
· Technical proficiency in high volume message-based transaction systems, UNIX, database technologies (Oracle and Sybase) and general system programming
· Knowledge of application development standards, tools, and methodologies (RUP, UML, CMM)
· Extensive experience with testing tools like the Rational Test Suite and Robot
· Technical understanding of UNIX and Microsoft NT/Win2K and XP environments, and their impact on development and testing efforts
· Excellent people management and motivational skills.
