Hi All,
I have been working as C/C++ application developer for more than 8 years, but I never touched financial field before. Now I want to build my career path into financial, like trading related area.
My question is, if I self-study FIX protocol and its related stuff, is it more possible for me to get into e-trade IT field?
Thank you very much in advance,

Yes FIX knowledge will be essential a great resource for understanding FIX in general would be to study and read the sample code and examples that are bundled with the free open source QuickFixEngine at http://www.quickfixengine.org/
I wish you the Best of luck.

Although, knowledge of FIX is a good way for a developer to move into financial services, you should focus also on gaining an understanding of equities or fixed income trading systems. Understanding the entire flow from portfolio management, position analysis, hedging strategies, through order management, routing, best execution and clearance, compliance, and custody is important. Books like Global Securities Processing by Weiss and others by Fabozzi are good. The Bond Market Association has a number of free pamphlets describing the gamut of fixed income processing. Good luck.
