Question on some terms

Imported from previous forum

In the FIX Glossary in the specification, the Investor ID is defined in context of the CIV as:

"An Investor identifier such as a taxpayer reference (NINO, NPN, DSS, SSN number etc) for an individual investor or a registration number (EIN, etc.) for a company.

May contain alphanumeric and dashes."

I’m trying to figure out with 100% certainty what the NPN and DSS refer to, and I’m concerned that I might be getting it wrong. Can someone point me in the right direction?

NPN is a state-county-individual id (16chars). This id is used to obtain an SSN.
DSS and SSN refer to the same thing (dept social services, social security number)

Ah thank you!
