I’d like to share an open-source tool which I’ve recently developed. It’s called QuickFIX Messenger, which is a front-end messaging application for the QuickFIX/J engine.

QuickFIX Messenger is a front-end messaging application for the QuickFIX/J engine.

It provides an easy to use graphical user interface (GUI) for constructing and sending FIX messages across a given FIX session.

QuickFIX Messenger is a perfect tool for testing different messages and scenarios on your FIX infrastructure.
Features

QuickFIX Messenger is fully open source and supports the following features:

  • FIX versions 4.0 to 5.0 (via FIXT 1.1)
  • Repeating Groups
  • Message Components
  • Filter required & optional fields
  • Modify Header & Trailer
  • Act as initiator or acceptor
  • Session management
  • Message logging
  • Quick links to FIXwiki (i.e. messages, fields, components definitions)

Did you consider to contribute this the QuickFIX/J project, e.g.
as sub-project?

Thanks for the feedback, I haven’t considered contributing this to the QuickFIX/J project. But whatever works best, I’m be open to it.

PS: You mention a Linux/Unix script, qfix-messenger.sh, in your user guide but I think you forgot to add it to the binary distribution.

Version 1.1 has been released.

This version includes a key feature to allow sending FIX messages as free text.
