We are developing a FIX 4.0 engine for a customer and would like to verify the expected response to a resend request. We intentionally forced a resend of many messages (approx. 60) to test the response from the gateway. The gateway initially sent 15 poss. dups., but then sent a non-poss. dup. test request with a sequence number one higher than are reset request range. The remaining poss. dup messages were then sent. The elapsed time for this complete message was a small fraction of the heartbeat frequency.
Questions: Does the protocol allow any test request messages to be interspersed inside a resend request response block? Are any other administrative messages allowed outside of the requested range?
