Job Title: Senior Systems Architect
Major Financial seeks a senior systems architect. This person will work in a 12 - 15 person team composed of c/c++ GUI and backend developers. This person will be determining architectural vision for the organization and ensuring project alignment with this vision. Key aspects of this position include high-level and detailed architectural design, documentation of the current real-time trading application that is the core product for the company, and design of the next generation architecture for the real-time trading system, encompassing real-time market data, order flow, and messaging.
This is not a management position, but it is expected that the candidate must be able to manage a team when the team expands in the future. This position will be heavily involved in the day-to-day hands on evaluation, design, and customization of enterprise trading, and messaging technologies.
The candidate should be a self-motivated candidate, who is capable of working in a fast paced challenging environment. The candidate must also demonstrate the ability to relay and express ideas in a technical forum with lead developers, and product managers. The ability to think out of the box is required. This is not a programming position, as this candidate will be working with a highly technical team.
Minimum experience includes:
· 7 years systems design experience preferably in a real time, high volume, large transactional environment.
· Real-time equities trading systems architecture experience.
· Some type of messaging infrastructure (TIBCO, MQ, MSMQ, or home grown) experience.
· Experience with quote driven systems.
· Equity Financial Industry experience is a requirement.
· Experience in designing mission critical applications.
· Ability to create detailed documentation (Visio, Rational, Use Cases, UML).
· At least 5 years of experience as software architect, developer, or technical lead. Successful delivery of at least one large project as a technical team lead.
· Excellent oral and written technical communication skills, including UML diagrams.
· Ability to interact effectively with technical and non-technical personnel.
· Acute attention to detail and reliable problem-solving ability.
· Desire/ability to work with multiple projects, technologies and teams. Must be able to work independently and lead projects.
The following skill sets are deemed as pluses in the job category:
* Any c/c++ programming experience.
* FIX or CMS programming experience.
* TIBCO messaging experience.
* Experience with any Direct Market Access trading system.
* Socket programming experience, or a good understanding of socket programming.
* BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field is considered a plus.
