We’re looking for a couple of experienced testers to join our growing software test group. The testers will work as part of a software development team on real-time, client/server financial applications. For a complete job description, see the Software Test Engineer position in the Careers section on www.sig.com.
The testing group here works for the software development department. Individual testers work with small teams of experienced developers, providing feedback. We are not gatekeepers. It’s common for a tester, or small group of testers, to work with the same development team for more than one year on a series of related applications. On some projects, that means the tester and development team are working with the same group of users as well. We leverage our knowledge of the applications to provide additional services for the users.
Minimum of five years experience working in a software development organization is required, including at least two years of full-time, hands-on application software testing.
Experience with several of the following is required: real-time client/server systems, Oracle or other relational database, rapid software testing, exploratory testing, system testing, black box testing, production verification testing, customer certification testing, performance testing and GUI testing
Familiarity with the concepts involved in software development and testing for at least one of these platforms is required: Solaris or other UNIX systems, Windows NT/2000/XP workstations or Windows-based terminal servers. Familiarity with software release management, software installation, software support and systems administration are pluses
Experience in testing financial applications is a plus, especially testing market data systems, back office systems, order routing systems or FIX and CMS protocols
Experience with Perl or other scripting languages is a plus
Bachelor’s degree preferred. Will consider equivalent work experience
Demonstrated ability to: learn quickly, communicate clearly, find and report bugs efficiently and solve business and technical problems
