We seek a Sr. Applications Architect to become part of the world-class team designing and building the Company’s IMTrader product. IMTrader is an n-tier messaging and trading solution tailored for the financial services industry and is built using both Java and .NET technologies. The candidate will directly report to the VP of Engineering and have the opportunity to lead the definition and development of product features while providing technical guidance to the engineering team on any issue. This position is guaranteed to be challenging and educational as well as having excellent internal promotion opportunities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop mission critical message based enterprise applications for financial services firms using Java, .NET, and RDBMS technologies.
• Aid in design and architecture. Ideal candidates will have understanding of structured analysis, object-oriented methodologies, and an ability to turn business requirements into solid design.
• Focus on stability, scalability and high availability.
• Ideal candidates can take ownership for difficult tasks and operate as a team lead.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• 7+ years in engineering / software development, building and shipping scalable mission critical software solutions for financial services.
• 3+ years experience leading design/development tracks consisting of 3+ engineers.
• 5+ years hands-on experience developing client and server side applications with the following technologies: UML, Java, C#/.NET, XML, XSLT, RDBMS, message oriented middleware (e.g., MSMQ, IBM MQSeries, Tibco Rendezvous, etc), and other state-of-the-art and emerging technologies.
• Thorough understanding of multi-threading and network programming
• Proven track record of executing against delivery dates in a dynamic environment
• Strong communications skills with the ability to successfully interface with professionals from various departments.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
• Prior experience with financial service industry standard protocols such as FIX, RIXML, MDML, SWIFT.
• Familiarity with front-office and back-office investment management/brokerage operations
• Previous experience at a financial services software vendor.
• Familiarity with instant messaging applications including AOL’s Instant Messenger, Microsoft’s MSN Messenger and Yahoo! Messenger.
• Strong work ethic.
• Willingness to exceed expectations to get the job done.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Undergraduate degree from top-tier computer science / engineering university program. Post-graduate work and/or degree preferred, but educational credentials are secondary to a proven track record of success.
Compensation for this position includes, among others, a base salary, performance bonus, and health and dental benefits.
