3868 - Senior Database Engineering Manager

Position Description:
The successful candidate will manage a distributed database environment. This will include capacity planning, tuning and system performance monitoring across platforms including the preparation of hardware and software tuning recommendations; and disaster recovery/business continuity planning. The candidate will support distributed applications using UDB and SQL Server in Solaris and NT environments. Support covers development, test and production environments. The candidate will be expected to set direction for the management of data in a multi-platform environment, setting and enforcing standards and recommending data distribution solutions in support of n-tiered, multi-platform financial applications with high performance, high availability and high reliability, data requirements
Skills Required:
· The candidate will be an experienced, senior IT professional with an undergraduate degree in information systems, computer science or a related technical discipline.
· The candidate must be experienced in delivering engineered solutions to large volume financial applications.
· The candidate is required to have experience supporting applications using UDB on Solaris and NT, SQL Server on NT and must have strong familiarity with advanced DB2 and DB2/UDB database administration.
· Detailed knowledge of database design and relational technology is essential.
· The candidate will have several years experience supporting large data warehouse environments with knowledge of data warehouse concepts (Ralph Kimball, Bill Inmon), data modeling and OLAP tools.
