Symbol suffix for Bloomberg: values for 65/SymbolSfx

Hello,

according to the FIX spec, the field 65/SymbolSfx (symbol suffix)
may contain the two values:

  • WI = when issued
  • CD = a EUCP with lump sum interest

Now we get the value “LN” from one customer and were told
that this comes from Bloomberg and denotes “UK stocks.”

Please, does anybody know this kind of values and provide some more
background to me? Are there any other values besides “LN”?

Hi Jörg

I think that getting write access to FIXwiki is pretty quick assuming your firm is an FPL member.

It would be great if more people would contribute - it is very easy to do.

FIXwiki is just coming up to its 2 millionth view (!) so it is definitely being used by the community as a reference tool.

However, I think that its potential as a tool providing community feedback into the FIX specification is just as valuable. But that hasn’t really taken off yet.

This discussion forum will remain the best place for questions, but FIXwiki is the best place for capturing the outcome of many such discussions.

I must admit that I already had login access, but forgot my details…

I definitely agree that this wiki is a good idea since I was suggesting this to FPL together with Oren Miller around 2002 or 2003. At this time, the idea was not so welcome.

Next time I will remember to record useful discussions in the wiki.

Interesting point. I do not work for an member firm. But I have been involved with FIX for about ten years. According to the logic employed, FPL is happy to accept my answer to the question from Jorg but as a non-member I cannot contribute directly to FIXwiki.

Tag 65 is used to identify the Suffix for a preferred stock
It’s normally something like A/B/C to indicate the type of shares.
If you received LN then the counterparty is setting the exchange code in tag 65 as opposed to 100/207, which I’ve seen certain vendor implementations do, and you end up having to ignore or copy to the right exch code tag
