I am not sure if I have to use the News or the Email message in the following scenario:

In general, the news message is preferred for a broadcast type message, the email message for directed communication.
You have one other alternative you may wish to consider, and that is using the Trading Session Status message. While, you may not be able to represent "5 minutes until close" as a TradSesStatus of "PreClose", you could use the Text field on the Trading Session Status message to indicate that the trading session will close in 5 minutes.
