Hello,
A couple of questions about Test Request messages:
-
Is any message received after a Test Request is sent considered an adequate response to the Test Request?
-
Is there a timeout for a reply to a Test Request? In other words, should a Heartbeat message with the same TestReqID be expected within a reasonable time period after the Test Request is sent? If such a Heartbeat is not received is it recommended that the connection be closed with a Logout message sent by the sender of the Test Request?
Thanks,
Nikhil

The appropriate response to a TestRequest is a Heartbeat message containing the same TestReqId (tag 112) field as specified on the TestRequest.

Yes a Heartbeat message with the same TestReqID should be expected within a reasonable period after the TestRequest message. Not receiving one is an indication of a communication issue or that your counterparty has a system problem. A lot of people wait up to 2 heartbeat intervals for a response before dropping the connection. A Logout is recommended.
