As a follow up to the SCP 1.1 proposal:
Everyone on the call that voiced an opinion seems to believe dynamic template exchange is a worthwhile feature.
Pantor uses dynamic exchange internally and has a client that is planning to use it.
Both Steve Grossman and Jim Northey raised the issue that if we are going so far as to specify a concrete encoding of something based in XML (although one should more properly say that what is being encoded onto FAST is the FAST template definition not an XML document – there is an important difference) it seems that we should at least determine the extensibility of the model towards XML content in general.
There appears to be interest in a general XML over FAST solution. Alexis weighed in on work they are doing with John O’Hara at JPMC.
Regarding SCP 1.1 – Jim N recommended we defer codification until there was more user experience and time to vet the proposal. Rolf concurred.
As part of the “eating our own dog food” and “build it before codifying it” perspective – we plan to implement the draft proposal from David Rosenberg in the interoperability portal so that the FAST community can get some experience with it before we have to approve it.
Matt recommended targeting review and approval after the summer holidays are over – in the September / October timeframe.
