TNS bolsters exchange roster with addition of Australian Securities Exchange

7th August 2008 - Transaction Network Services (NYSE:TNS) is extending its global stock exchange coverage by establishing a link to the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX).

By connecting to TNS’ Secure Trading Extranet, the ASX is able to attract greater attention from major financial institutions beyond the country’s boundaries, not only in the Asia Pacific region, but also the rest of the world.

Jeremy Johnston, General Manager International Sales and Market Information at the Australian Securities Exchange, said: “The Asia Pacific region’s trading capability is expanding at a rapid rate. TNS’ Secure Trading Extranet will enable ASX to deliver data to an extensive global marketplace. We hope to utilise TNS’ global Secure Trading Extranet to further expand our range of services within the coming months.”

As one of the world’s top 10 listed exchange groups, ASX Limited was created through the merger of the Australian Stock Exchange and the Sydney Futures Exchange in 2006.

The ASX spans the markets for corporate control, capital formation and price discovery and functions as an operator, supervisor, central counterparty clearer and payments system facilitator.

John Owens, Vice President of Exchanges and ECNs for TNS’ Financial Services Division, said: “We are delighted to be supporting ASX. The partnership demonstrates the increasing demand in the Asia Pacific region for TNS’ low latency, secure and fault tolerant financial community connectivity services for trading and market data.

“This connection not only promotes ASX’s ability to nurture international growth, but also gives our existing customers the opportunity to access one of the Asia Pacific region’s most prominent exchanges.”

TNS’ Secure Trading Extranet connects over 1,500 financial community end-points, representing buy and sell-side institutions, market data and software vendors, exchanges and alternative trading venues. It boasts over 120 points of presence and provides services to customers in 28 countries across America, Europe and the Asia Pacific region, with its reach extending to many more.

Financial institutions using TNS’ network can exchange a variety of trade-related messages, including indications of interest, order routing and trade executions, as well as receiving consolidated and real-time market data.
