US-NY-NYC: C++ Engineering Developer

Major financial services firm is seeking an Engineering Developer to develop, debug, and support infrastructure (server side) components for a high throughput, highly available, and scalable execution system electronically connecting to multiple order sources and liquidity pools.

Candidates must have strong OO design and programming skills in C++, and must be familiar with concepts of high performance multi-threaded programming (thread pools, critical segments); Should be at least 3-4 years practical experience.
Familiarity with interprocess communications using sockets, RV, or similar technologies. (RV preferred); Experience with development in a Unix and/or Linux environment, preferably Solaris 8 / Red Hat. Requires excellent verbal and written communications skills. Must be able to explain concepts and ideas clearly and concisely.

Working knowledge of the FIX protocol and practical issues surrounding it’s use.
Experience with development in a financial (preferrably equities execution) setting, or development on a high throughput HA transaction oriented system. Experience with automated failover, heartbeating, etc - all aspects of HA systems. Experience with some form of high performance persistence such as an RDBMS, flat files, or in-memory storage. Knowledge of Oracle 8i or 9I and 9i dataguard is best.
