Do you need a tag 22 before a tag 602?

No but you need tag 603 LegSecurityIDSource. The position does not matter, as neither is the first field of . The source of a security ID should always be present to specify the domain from which the ID has been chosen.

The text “Required if SecurityID is specified.” only exists for tag 22 but equally applies to all XXXSecurity(Alt)ID/XXXSecurity(Alt)IDSource fields.
