The VersaFix Project team is pleased to announce that we’ve now incorporated support for QuickFIX format data dictionaries into the dictionary editor that is provided with the VersaFix system.

The VersaFix dictionary editor is a GUI utility that allows you to inspect and modify data dictionaries used by the popular QuickFIX and VersaFIX open source FIX engines. It’s the first of many tools that are being developed by the VersaFix project to simplify the development of production trading systems using open source technologies.

If you’re using QuickFIX, please take a look at the dictionary editor in VersaFix and let us know if there is any way that we can improve it to better support your needs. The editor is called ‘DxEditor’ and is located in the Bin\Utilities folder of your working directory after building the VersaFix system using VS2008.

Everytime I follow a link to versafix


Sourceforge shows me a message like:
‘This page has been deprecated and is now controlled by the consume team.’

Also I don’t seem able to access the source code.
can you explain.

That’s odd… I just clicked on both the link in the original posting, and in the link you have in your reply - both take me directly to the VersaFix page on SourceForge.net. Maybe it’s something going on with a web proxy on your network, or something like that? It’s possible SourceForge is having some kind of issue as well…

At any rate, you can probably go directly to SourceForge.net and enter the term “VersaFix” in the search bar there - that should get you to the project without having to put the URL directly into your browser.

The source code is available through SVN, by pointing your SVN client (we recommend TortoiseSVN) to the following address:

Let me know if you can’t get at the source code with SVN - that might be indicative of a more serious issue at SourceForge, but I just checked all of them from this location (at a public hotspot) and they seem to be working fine as of 3:21 CST.

Still if I go to

I can’t think of that being a problem with proxys but I don’t know.
I wish I could attach a snapshot from here but the 'discussion forum’
does not allow it.

So let me do this, I copy and paste a bit of the ‘source’ from
the page I get… hopefully it will give you an idea.

Hi Lorenzo,

I went over to SF and searched their ticket system for that error message - it turns out some other people have experienced that same issue in the past, with different projects on the site. It looks like some kind of bug on SF’s side of things. I’ll enter another ticket on this and see what they have to say.

Hi Lorenzo,

SourceForge has some strange issues here and there. Their support team is usually pretty good, but in this case they seem inclined to think this problem doesn’t exist - despite the fact that numerous users have brought it up. On the other hand, I’m sure their site is pretty complex and sometimes these things can be a nightmare to track down.

Here’s another fun SF bug - the mailing list system used to convert the word “pretty” into “tty” for some reason, so if you said “this is pretty good” it would get archived as “this is tty good.”

We are going to have an alternate site up pretty soon, and will be moving most of the VersaFix resources over to that site instead. We’ll keep the SVN server and mailing lists hosted on SF, but the forum system on SF is not that great so we decided to put together a new home for the system. We’ll have an announcement out on that in the very near future.
