Application-level reject of OrderStatusRequest

If we receive an OrderStatusRequest that needs to be rejected at the application level (if the ClOrdID is unknown, for example), what message should we send back?

The 4.3 spec indicates (under ‘business-level reject’) that an execution report should be sent. However, I’m not sure what values OrdStatus and ExecType should be set to, since the order is unknown.

Does anybody know what other institutions do in this case? We need to support FIX 4.0, 4.1 & 4.2.

Thanks,
Jacob
