What is the purpose of tag 150 (ExecType) in a Trade Capture report?
The description in volume 5 under Trade Capture Report states:
" Type of Execution being reported:
Uses subset of ExecType for Trade Capture Reports"
However, I don’t believe the subset is actually defined anywhere?
We are also curious why this field is optional in Trade Capture Report and required in Trade Capture Report ACK?

ExecType in the TCR is intended to carry the value it had on the ExecutionReport referring to the same trade (execution). The subset is not explicitly defined but it is F/G/H (Trade, Trade Correct, Trade Cancel), i.e. those that talk about the (partial) fill of an order and not about the order itself. I believe it was added to ease reconciliation of ERs and TCRs.
We are also curious why this field is optional in Trade Capture Report and required in Trade Capture Report ACK?

I forgot J (trade in clearing hold) and K (trade released to clearing). I also made an entry to ExecType on FIXwiki (http://fixwiki.fixprotocol.org/fixwiki/ExecType) where this type of information can be added.
