FIX Message Definition DB

Imported from previous forum

I am new to FIX so this may be a very silly question – if so, please forgive my ignorance. I am quite familiar with the HL7 standard. You can purchase a database the provide excellent metadata for defining each of the message definitions across all versions.

Does anything like this exist for FIX?

Kevin,
Thanks very much! I really hoped I would get value out of these forums and already it’s paying dividends. I’m trying to learn as much as I can about the structure of FIX messages.

HL7 has quite a bit of hierarchy. It appears to me, at first glance, that FIX is rather flat. I guess I will soon see.

Take care.

Like HL7 we have a metadata dictionary, even better it free to members
of FPL. It can be found on the repository link of the specification
page. Or directly from
http://www.fixprotocol.org/specifications/repository

Furthermore we’re in the process of expanding it to include further
rules and business process models. This work can be found under the
repository WG. http://www.fixprotocol.org/working_groups/repwg

Hope this helps, if you have any questions please let me know

Michael, Also refer to FIXimate which is an online browsing tool available under “Technical / Specifications” and obviously the spec documents themselves.

Michael,

Maybe FIXForge FIX Dictionary could be helpful for you.
