Does anyone know where I could get some type of simulator which simulates options orders in FIX format? Any insight or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much.

I too could do with a simulator. Did you find one? If someone sends me a recording of FIX 4.1 messages I’ll write one.

Hi Colin,

I saw your response to Greg Ziegler’s message. That message was posted quite a while ago (Dec 20, 1999). I don’t know if anyone has built a simulator for options since then, but I am writing one now.

When I am finished, you will be able to connect to my site over the internet, establish a fix connection, send options orders, cancel requests, change requests, etc. I also plan to have a simulator for options market data requests and security definition requests.

Let me know if you would like to know more about what I am doing.

I am definately interested in trying out your simulator.

Please let me know what I can do to gain access.

Hi Will,
I am certainly interested in what you’re doing. I too am writing a FIX simulator in Java to help develop and test my message translation engine. My first version will handle order related messages in FIX 4.1 and simulate error conditions.

Colin.

Concerning FIX testing tools…
There is The FIXantenna Open Source Project on fix.btobits.com with FIX Testing Gateway.
You can test Session level and Application level FIX messages.

Will,
Let me know how you are making out with your simulator. I’ve learned a lot since I first posted this up. If there is anything I can do to help, please let me know.
Regards,
Greg
