Is there an existing database to search for FIX fields and tag numbers rather than searching through the documentation?
Check out the "Fiximate" tool under "Specifications".
Also under “More Information”, “Related Links” there is a link to Javelin’s “FIXionary” (even a version for the Palm Pilot).

I don’t know if this is exactly what you want, but you can try the Online Fixionary from www.javtech.com.
That is a nice tool to find FIX messages description, fields by name, tags #s, etc.
