Dear All,
I have a question about errors in FIXML DTD/schemas.
I reviewed some old posts in this forum, but was unable to find the answer.
All FIXML schemas contain some errors, for example, FIXML schemas for FIX 5.0 and FIX 5.0 SP1 miss Market Data Request message at all.
If someone wants to use this message, I assume that FIXML schema is corrected locally, in every implementation. Because of this it is possible that corrections can be done in different ways by different parties.
What is the correct approach to deal with these errors? Is there any official process of correcting errors and updating versions of FIXML schemas?
Thank you in advance.
FIXML Schemas are more like software than paper specification documents so we manage them under change control using Subversion. We are planning a maintenance release of all repositories and specifications for 2009- this would include corrections to FIXML Schemas (the FIX.5.0 schema also has an issue with InstrumentLeg for instance).
Please post specific errata to the appropriate “Version” Changes discussion forum - or in the case of FIXML Schema - reporting it here will be fine.
Once the error is reported - FPL Technical support folks capture the issue in Jira. Resolution is coordinated with the FPL Technical Support area and if needed with the GTC Governance Board.
Hope this helps.

Dear Jim,
Thank you for answers.
If I understood you correctly, we can create a new thread in this forum and report errors we found here.
Can we report errors on DTDs for FIXML 4.1-4.3 also? Will these versions be also maintained and corrected?
Thank you.

Regarding FIXML issues - yes please post them here - making sure to indicate the version of FIX and the errors encountered.
Regarding maintenance releases on the DTDs from earlier versions - I will need to confer with the GTC Governance Board and John Goeller on direction in terms of creating maintenance versions.
Please post errors with DTD versions of FIXML regardless. We will see that they are tracking in Jira. The decision on releasing revised DTDs will be made by the GTC Governance Board.
