Hi there,

I have a doubt regarding the usage of the Giveup Clearing Firm in the Parties Component block. Does ‘Giveup Clearing Firm’ refer to the brokerage firm that receives the giveup, or to the clearing firm associated with the ‘Giveup firm’? If the latter is true, which field/value should I use to indicate the Giveup Firm?

The Giveup Clearing Firm refers to the clearing firm associated with the firm performing the give-up. However, the 3-party allocation model implemented by CME does not make use of this enumeration. Rather, the convention is differentiate give-up firm from claiming firm by the position of the party roles in the message.

A typical Allocation Report message would use the Parties Block at the main level to specify the give-up party using values of Executing Firm (1) and Executing Trader (12). Claiming or respondant party information would be carried in the Nested Parties Block of the Alloc Repeating Group using the same party roles. Therefore, it is the location in the message that determines the meaning of the more generic party roles.
