GTC Blog: Next generation of FIXimate now available

The FIX Global Technical Committee is proud to announce that a new and significantly enhanced version of FIXimate (Version 4.0) is now available. See the GTC blog for details. It comes with a comprehensive User Guide and uses the FIX Orchestra Repository of FIX Latest as source. The FIX legacy versions continue to be available under the previous version of FIXimate (Version 3.1.4).

Please provide questions and comments as feedback in this thread.

Hello @hanno.klein,

I wonder whether the “FIX Orchestra Repository of FIX Latest” XML file (including EP 269) is available to the public or exclusively to members.
So far, I failed to find it on the FIX Trading Community web site.

Thanks, Jörg

Hi Jörg,
are you probably refering to info provided in [https://www.fixtrading.org/extension-packs/]? Or sthg completely different?
Regards Uli

Hi Uli,
thanks for the prompt reply. Actually I am looking for the XML file describing the current FIX Latest standard including EP269 according to the FIX Orchestra standard.

My current FIX Orchestra repository file starts as follows:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<fixr:repository
    xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/"
    xmlns:fixr="http://fixprotocol.io/2020/orchestra/repository"
    xmlns:functx="http://www.functx.com"
    xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
    name="FIX.5.0SP2"
    version="FIX.5.0SP2_EP258">
<fixr:metadata>
    <dc:title>Orchestra</dc:title>
    <dc:creator>unified2orchestra.xslt script</dc:creator>
    <dc:publisher>FIX Trading Community</dc:publisher>
    <dc:date>2020-07-19T09:28:08.308Z</dc:date>
    <dc:format>Orchestra schema</dc:format>
    <dc:source>FIX Unified Repository</dc:source>
    <dc:rights>Copyright (c) FIX Protocol Ltd. All Rights Reserved.</dc:rights>
</fixr:metadata>

It seems to be based on EP258 and is dated back to 2020.

Now I am looking for the newest version used to generate the new FIXimate.

Cheers, Jörg

The Orchestra file for FIX Latest is available in two places:

Hi Don,

thank you very much for the pointers.

That the newest FIX Orchestra XML is hidden in the EP ZIP download is a bit surprising. A short note on the EP page or even a separate download would be very helpful.

My current file I picked up from the FIXTradingCommunity GitHub while playing with your Tablature tools. For some reason, I was not aware of this part of the repository.

Thanks again and cheers, Jörg

Hi @donaldmendelson,

wondering whether this XSD is still required:

xmlns:functx="http://www.functx.com"

My IDE says: no. So could it be dropped at all?

Cheers, Jörg

@jorgthonnes, do you mean in the Orchestra FIX Latest file? A function was used in an XSLT to create the file, and by default, it adds all XML namespaces to the output. However, it can be suppressed. I’ll enter an issue to change that.

Alright, will check it at the GitHub site. Next time, I could create an issue myself to save you the work :slight_smile:
