Hi, I have come across an issue where an order has been FILLED ( 39=2) and some mil sec later modification of order qty request has come in. Instead of this being rejected it was put in PENDING and then accepted and received FILLS on the new order qty.

Is this FIX Compliant?

Yes, this is valid assuming the cancel/replace request is to increase order qty. See “D8 – Filled order, followed by cancel/replace request to increase order quantity” in the Order State Change Matrices (eg Appendix D in 4.2 spec).

Hi, Shane,

While this is not strictly FIX-compliant, there are companies which use this method to increase the size on a previously filled order without re-submitting the new size as a new order.

It’s not strictly FIX compliant but yes some FIX broker does that but if exchange is maintaining some sort of queue for order then once order got filled it may not be remain in queue and your modification request will be treated as new order and will be assign a new queue on exchange order book.
