PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD – Simple Binary Encoding (SBE) V2.0 RC2

In Simple Binary Encoding Version 2.0, the template extension mechanism was enhanced to allow adding of repeating groups and variable-length data elements to both the root of a message as well as nested within a repeating group without breaking decoders informed by older versions of a message schema. Additionally, control of byte alignment was enhanced to control the alignment of variable-length data elements and repeating groups.

In the second Release Candidate of Version 2.0, some refinements were made.

· The default character set for character arrays and single-character codes was changed to an 8-bit encoding while SBE version 1.0 was restricted to 7-bit ASCII. SBE retains the ability to use any standard character encoding when specified in a message schema.

· Some enhancements were made to the XML schema, including support for XInclude to assemble an SBE message schema from multiple reusable parts.
