I am having troubles figuring out QuoteRequest(35=R) vs. RFQRequest(35=AH).
Both the QuoteRequest and RFQRequest messages give the initiator to use optional tag QuoteType(537) with values Indicative(0), or Tradeable(2), or RestrictedTradeable(3). So what would be the difference ?
However, if initiator cannot use a ClOrdID in the RFQRequest message, what is the point of QuoteType [all RFQRequest would be Indicative] ?
The difference between QuoteRequest and RFQRequest is the QuoteRequest is to request a quotation on a financial instrument. The RFQRequest is a request (usually implemented as a subscription) to receive QuoteRequests.
QuoteType the difference is there are different models for quotation - I think this is covered well in Volume 7.
The RFQRequest message does not contain ClOrdID because it is a request to receive QuoteRequests from a counterparty or a market place.
