Significance of SenderSubID

Hello,

How significant is the SenderSubID field in the Message Header? In particular, suppose the initial Logon was with a counterparty with no SenderSubID. Then is it okay to essentially not accept (or not forward to the backend application) messages with a (non-null) SenderSubID? What does SenderSubID typically denote? The Spec says it specifies a trader, a particular desk, etc. at the sender. Any clarification would be appreciated.

The SenderSubID field is an optional field. In that respect its significance is negotiated between the two parties. As far as not accepting messages that did not contain SenderSubID that would seem to violate the spec saying the field is optional.
