I wanted to know whether can we suppress TAG 39 ?

Tag 39 OrdStatus is used in Execution Report, List Status and Order Cancel Reject. It is a required Tag in all these message types. So the short answer is Tag 39 cannot be suppressed if your system wants to remain FIX compliant.

Regardless of what the FIX spec says, what advantage does it have to suppress tag 39 on the above messages? I would like to understand how that makes life easier for the parties.

One of the client want to suppress TAG 39 as they are not supporting…but after the talks they said to suppress the TAG 39=A i.e. for Pending-New status.

I think you are asking to suppress Pending new messages in FIX ?

You can not send an execution report with out tag 39. As Mahesh said earlier, Tag 39 is mandatory in Execution report.

I think, your client is asking you to stop sending the Pending New message not just suppress the tag alone.

i think Kasim is correct might be ur client is asking to not send real fills continuously they might have required fills in some interval(eg:30mins onece).but u canot supress the TAG 39…

Hi Mauresh,

        You cannot suppress the tag 39(OrderStatus) by any means in an execution report. It will be against FIX compliance. You can infact suppress Pending Messages in case client needs it, but I suggest this is also not a good practice, a good OMS will always let thier client know about the Order Status during the lifecycle of an order.
