There is a free FIX testing facility at www.openfix.net which I bet you’ll find useful. There’s a full implementation version of all of FPL’s session level tests there which you should find extremely helpful, as well as a handful of business-level tests. Enjoy!

To send/receive FIX messages you can use the .FIXAntenna Client from B2B ITS Corp.
A working evaluation is available for download from http://fix.btobits.com, the .FIXAntenna website.
Whilst there you may also wish to download our .FIXAntenna Engine and make use of our free FIX testing gateway which can be used to simulate a trading session.

I am with Aegis Software in NYC. There are free testing tools out there in the FIX arena but I have yet to come across any that simulate a FIX trading station. I believe fixexpress.net offers a small simulated market. However, if you are looking for a testing tool with a level of sophistication and are interested in receiving an accurate simulation of the actual buy side, sell side, ECN’s and exchanges that you are testing against, then I encourage you to visit our website at www.aegisoft.com and look at our Exchange Simulator Product.

We believe plugging commercial products is a misuse of this forum. However, much of what Steven implied in his response(s) about other solutions isn’t really accurate. The ttCERT platfom powers the free OpenFIX testing service
(www.OpenFIX.net), in use by hundreds of companies worldwide. The full ttCERT product easily simulates any scenario you could want to
test. We will followup with you directly, away from this forum.

As well as looking at Transact Tools, you may also want to take a look at B2B ITS (http://fix.btobits.com). We are launching our new FACTS testing service on Monday that will cater to the needs mentioned.
