Definitely MS Word "cut and past" content on the clipboard. I have replicated process and ended up with plain text from Notepad. You can see the underlying MSOffice formatting artefacts in the HTML expressed as Span Class.

the same text cut-and-paste from Notepad generates the following when posted unedited, which is devoid of MS Formatting artefacts:-

Recommendations mark milestone for development of European Consolidated Tape

26th November 2012 – FIX Protocol Ltd (FPL), the non-profit, industry standards organisation at the heart of the global electronic trading community, today published recommended standards for the consolidation of trade reports and market data for European equity markets. These industry-driven recommendations mark an important milestone in the development of a European Consolidated Tape. The recommendations provide eagerly-awaited guidance, explaining how trade reports could be published in a standard manner to enable data to be more easily consolidated, significantly enhancing transparency and quality of data. These factors will be pre-requisites for the delivery of a successful Consolidated Tape for the European markets.

The MiFID review identified the need for market participants to gain a complete view of European equity market activity, through the consolidation of post-trade data feeds. Various attempts at data consolidation have been made since the original MiFID requirements were implemented, however the lack of common standards and guidelines has impeded progress.

A widely adopted European Consolidated Tape presents significant potential for the region’s trading community. The industry has benefited considerably from the use of FIX, which has become embedded in the fabric of the Equities front-office trading environment and FPL is keen to see the many advantages of standardisation extend through the implementation of the Consolidated Tape.

Focused on addressing the business issues impacting the global trading community through the use of standards, in mid-2011 FPL formed the EMEA Trade Data Standardisation Working Group to explore how standards could be applied to address the challenges facing post-trade Equity and Equity-like data. Building on CESR’s work to define trade reporting and market data publication standards, and considering the MiFID review’s new requirements and recent changes to European market structure; the group has released guidelines for data consolidation and the standardisation of trade reporting for European equity markets. Its recommendations include the consistent use of standards that identify:

Where the trade was issued and in which currency

On which trading venue or exchange the order was executed, or if it had been executed OTC

The time of trade execution and time of reporting by the execution venue expressed to the nearest millisecond and microsecond if the individual execution venue has the capacity to report at this level

Plus many further details all focused on ensuring that the organisations involved understand what they should do to provide standardised data that can be easily comparable on a like-for-like basis.

These recommendations have been developed working in conjunction with the Market Model Typology (MMT) initiative, which is focused on addressing data standards for trade reporting codes.

Commenting on the recommendations Jim Kaye, Co-Chair of the FPL EMEA Trade Data Standardisation Working Group, and Director, Product Development, European Execution Services, BofA Merrill Lynch said,

“The availability of well-defined standards for data and trade reporting presents a significant step forward for the trading community.  History has taught us that standards breed innovation and competition, as data quality increases and standards become the norm, the industry will benefit from being able to select their Consolidated Tape provider based on the strength of their offering.”

Andrew Allwright, Co-Chair of the FPL EMEA Trade Data Standardisation Working Group and EMEA Head of Market Structure, Thomson Reuters said,

“As the plethora  of regulatory requirements continues to impact the trading community, these recommendations for the standardisation of trade reports and market data are a great example of the industry working together, stepping up and offering a solution to an issue that presents significant challenges for many firms. With these guidelines we have reached an important milestone in facilitating the development of consolidated tape data in Europe.”

I have taken the text on this page from an email, placed it into notepad and copied it from there. I have then set the font as 'font size' as I have done for all other pages across the site and for some reason it is coming out much bigger than on other pages. Pls could you advise why this may be?

It appears that the post still contains some formatting from Word. Is it possible that you copied it to notepad and then forgot to copy from notepad into the post itself? Please do try again and if you continue to experience problems then do let us know.

Note the "cut-and-paste" content from notepad DOES seem to contain an excessive amount of page return expressions- these can be removed successfully directly from within the WYSIWYG editor, as done above. Visual display in the WYSIWYG is consistent with final output.
