Hi all,

Our company is doing an analysis to move the trading of FI onto FIX. A quick question here. Since we will need to utility the existing 4.2 session for the equities and F&O flow, is the version enough for both of the FI negotiation and order flow implementation?

FIX 4.4 provides much better support for fixed income.
However, it depends on what your requirements are and what fields
you wish to support.
A lot of new fixed income fields have user defined values when used with FIX 4.2. For example, see tag 6608:
http://www.fixprotocol.org/specifications/fields/6000-6999

Another factor to consider is what FIX version your counterparties use.

Where possible, I would recommend that you use FIX 4.4, but it is
possible to support many features using 4.2.
