Hello, I am new to this board and have a general question: Can anyone tell me if the FIX protocol is used strictly for equities trading or does it also apply to Futures and FX Currency trading?

Yes, FIX is used for equities, futures, FX, options and funds. For example, you can find that the Chicago Merc (www.cme.com) has an order processing interface called i/Link for futures and options on futures. The CBOE (www.cboe.com) has a FIX interface for options on equities, and my company (www.cmcplace.com) has FIX gateways to LIFFE and Eurex.

FIX is gaining in acceptance among futures and FX firms.
