Our firm has identified more than one instance in which Execution Reports we received from a broker contained the client account id of the Buyside firm we executed against. We ask our brokers to populate “contra”, and by this we mean the liquidity venue hit (eg exchange, ECN/ATS, dark pool, etc), within ExecBroker(76) on our Execution Reports.
Obviously buyside firms should not be privvy to this detail and we have asked all of our brokers to verify their system configuration and ensure that such information is not disclosed.
