Now that XML Schema has become a Candidate Recommendation, does the FIX Protocol Organization have any plans to implement the FIXML specification as an XML Schema?

I’ve completed a draft version of the DTD based on FIX 4.2 with an expectation of finalizing it in the next couple of weeks.

I’m using a tool that allows for conversion of DTDs to the XML Schema 10-24 recommendation and I could provide a simple converted XML Schema version (10-24) right now. However, the XML Schema recommendation provides much more functionality over and above the data typing issue and I would like to leverage those features.
From an implementation point of view, I only know of one parser (http://xml.apache.org/xerces-j/index.html) that supports XML Schema and that is only from the April release so I don’t think we’re in a big rush.

I should be able to begin drafting the XML Schema version of FIXML in December.
