Cancel reject (35=9) is the ideal message to be sent back by the counter pary.
Yes I too agree with Prachi and Alexandre. But still few vendor systems allow user to send Cancel request and in return it will be 35=9 (as Sergey is expecting).
Case -1 : Few vendor systems does not allow user to send 35=F if order is Fully filled ( it is Grey out from their blotter to send cancel request).
Case -2 : Where few systems (dont grey out that Order from their blotter and which) allows user to send cancel request in that case it will be 35=9 and reason will be like "Fail to insert" /"Too late to cancel"

Hi Sergey,
I agree with Prachi, but if you send a Cancel request message before you receive Order Filled message you can consider this acceptable behavior, since this is specified on the rules of engagement (ROE) from downstream/connector.
Ideally you should not be able to send cancel order request when order is completely Filled.
Hi everyone,
I have a question regarding the situation when I send a Cancel request message for an order that has already been FILLed.
As far as I understand, according to FIX, I should expect Order Cancel Reject (<9>) in this case. However, I receive an ER (ordStatus=REJECTED) from the downstream/connector.
Is it an error in the connector or acceptable behavior?
Thanks.
