DRAFT STANDARD - FIX High Performance Session Layer (FIXP) Version 1.1

The FIX Performance Session Layer (FIXP) Version 1.1 Release Candidate 1 was posted for 90 day public review January 10, 2019 and no material feedback raising concerns or issues has been received to date.

The GTC believes the FIXP Version 1.1 Technical Specification to be of suitable quality and having achieved fit for purposefulness to be adopted. The GTC has expressed a high level of confidence.

Therefore, the FIXP Version 1.1 Draft Standard will be in the draft period for six months (July 2019 – December 2019). Two implementations that demonstrate interoperability are needed to move it to Version 1.1 Technical Standard. Potential adopters are strongly encouraged to begin working with the Draft Standard.

This proposal from the High Performance Working Group provides a FIX session layer for high performance. FIX Performance Session Layer (FIXP) is a lightweight protocol designed for high performance use cases. It supports both point-to-point exchange of application messages as well as multicasts for market data and the like. Notable FIXP features include:
• Negotiable delivery guarantees, supporting asymmetrical flows
• Session identifier distinct from business entity identifiers
• Well isolated protocol layers–FIXP session layer is independent of message encoding and transport protocols
