PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD –FIX Performance Session Layer (FIXP) – Release Candidate 4

This proposal from the High Performance Working Group provides a FIX session layer for high performance. FIX Performance Session Layer (FIXP) is a lightweight protocol designed for high performance use cases. It supports both point-to-point exchange of application messages as well as multicasts for market data and the like. Notable FIXP features include:

• Negotiable delivery guarantees, supporting asymmetrical flows
• Session identifier distinct from business entity identifiers
• Well isolated protocol layers–FIXP session layer is independent of message encoding and transport protocols

Release Candidate 4 clarifies the specification and adds a new feature to disseminate message templates for high-performance encodings in-band.

This release candidate now enters a public comment period in which public review and feedback is encouraged. The public comment period will run for a period of 90 days beginning on the 3rd of May 2018.

A few minor errors:

  • Table of contents has not been updated (bookmark errors)
  • Dates are inconsistent (May 2 vs May 4)
  • Typo in 4.7.2 “a Terminate message should sent” is missing a “be”
  • 4.8.2: What is the reason for the usage of asterisk in “*Applied* or *NotApplied*”? Was the intention to emphasize the two message names? I do not see any other instances where message names are emphasized.
  • Typo in 7.4.1 and multiple other locations: “Eecution-Report” is missing an “x”

I suggest to add bookmarks to allow navigation of the table of contents on the left hand side of the PDF reader.
