Exercising Options

Does anyone know how to exercise an option in FIX 4.2. I can’t seem to find any suitable message type for this.

FIX 4.2 does not support an option exercise transaction - as this is a post trade activity.

We likely will not be able to add this functionality to FIX 4.3 due to time constraints.

Option post trade transactions are something that we would like to work towards - but have not had the resources to do so.

Yes,using the Position Maintenance Request ("AL"), Position Maintenance Report ("AM"), Request for Positions ("AN"), Request for Positions Ack ("AO") and Position Report ("AP).

You can see this in volume 5 (Post-Trade) in the category Positions Maintenance (pages 84 till 96).
