Fix 4.3 standards and field values

Hi,

I have two queries here :

  1. As per Vol6, Appendix 6-B the various standards which are supported are -
    Bank Identification Code ISO 9362:1994
    Country ISO3166-1:1997,
    ISO 3166-2:1998
    Currency ISO 4217:1995
    Exchange/Market Code ISO 10383:1992
    Security Identification ISO 6166:2001
    Security Type/Classification ISO 10962:2001

These standards are different from ISO 15022, am I right ? From where are we supposed to get the list of values corresponding to each standard and then how can we get any updates done to them.

  1. In the field value, whether it is of type integer, string or Multiple value string - are we supposed to trim the leading and trailing spaces or they should be considered part of value.

  1. ISO 15022, like the FIX Protoocol, is at a "higher level" than these standards which define values for a specific type of field. ISO 15022 uses these same "base" standards. I believe that as of FIX 4.3, the FIX Protocol and ISO 15022 use the same set of "base standards" (in Appendix 6-B). You can find out more about ISO 15022 at www.iso15022.org Each ISO standard has a "Registration Authority" who administers the standard and each standard may have their own approach to making them available and providing updates. In general the actual, official standard which is voted on by all of the countries tends to reflect how the standard is administered and the rules for the composition of the values vs. the actual list of values themselves.

  2. I would recommend trimming any leading/trailing spaces.
