Is the FIXML format compatible with the ISO 15022 standards? How do these relate?

15022 is two things. A data field dictionary (DFD) and a catalog of messages.
The DFD contains low-level business elements for a variety of securities transactions. It is basically a spreadsheet that maps the syntaxes of various standards like ISITC and SSAB into the 15022 syntax.
Messages designed with the 15022 syntax are registered in the catalog of messages.
How do they relate?
Example 15022 Syntax for Trade Date
98A::TRAD//19980420
Example FIXML Syntax for Trade Date
<TradeDate>19980420</TradeDate>
or regular FIX
75=19980420
Different syntax but same business meaning.
ISO has recently established Working Group 10 under their Technical Committee that is focused on banking and securities (TC68). This group is also known as the ISO 15022 XML Working Group. The group’s goal is to evolve 15022 to allow for migration of the securities industry to a standardized use of XML.

Responding to my request, my company unblocked the site. I can see why it was blocked, as it is a service in which any group can start a site on any subject. I wonder why ISO can’t have facilities of its own! I would think the initiative for the convergence of ISO15022-SWIFT-FIX certainly rate a dedicated.org!

As an adhoc group of different initiatives, eGroups was a logical candidate to help facilitate our activities. Other groups like XBRL and RIXML have used the site in a similar capacity. I understand many firms have security concerns with eGroups.
We are in the process of determining member’s ISO status as we intend to move the project team work to an ISO sponsored site on www.tc68.org. We will probably keep the egroups site to update people not interested in actively particpating.
