August 18, 2004 - FIX Protocol Limited (FPL) has announced that Alan Line of F&C Management Ltd and Scott Atwell of American Century Investments have been elected as Co-Chairs of the FPL Global Steering Committee (GSC). The GSC includes representation from the leaders of each of FPL’s four regional committees, two product committees and two service committees. The primary role of the GSC is to effectively manage the organization’s ongoing needs at both the strategic and operational level with support of the Executive Director, Peter Randall, the FPL Program Office, and FPL’s other service providers. Alan and Scott succeed Michael O’Conor of Merrill Lynch who served in this role as the inaugural chair for one and a half years.
Alan Line is currently Director/Head of Dealing at F&C Management Ltd, a pan-European asset management company for both institutions and retail investors, with responsibility for the centralised Dealing Desk. He has been in this position for 13 years. Mr. Line was previously Co-Chair of the FPL Europe Regional Committee for 5 years. He has been very involved with the corporate structure and development of FIX since 2001. In response to his appointment as Co-Chair, Alan stated, “I am looking forward to further contribute to the ongoing success and development of FIX by helping steer the organisation appropriately to ensure the protocol’s continued relevance in the marketplace.”
Scott Atwell is currently the Manager of FIX Trading and Connectivity for American Century Investments, a multi-disciplined, global asset management firm offering diverse investment vehicles. He developed American Century Investments’ FIX system providing FIX connectivity to virtually all of the brokers used for their equity, derivatives, and foreign exchange trading worldwide. Mr. Atwell currently serves as Co-Chair of the FPL Global Technical Committee and is a member of the Americas Regional Committee. Mr. Atwell has been a key participant and contributor to the development and success of FIX since nearly its inception and first became involved with FIX as part of the original FIX Committee in November of 1995. “I am truly honored to co-lead this distinguished group. In the past decade, FIX has become a huge success and I look forward to working with Alan and the members of the organization to continue building upon our success and achieving greater uptake of the protocol worldwide,” stated Mr. Atwell.
