FPL Members,
FPL is proud to announce that the Algorithmic Trading Working Group, the team responsible for the development of FIXatdl (SM), has concluded its work and shipped a production ready version of the standard to the FPL Global Technical Committee for its final approval. This latest version is available immediately for download by the public at: http://www.fixprotocol.org/working_groups/algowg/documents.
Following extensive input received from the OMS community, the Working Group closed the Beta period in late December and froze the final feature set. While the structure of the prior developmental version of the standard was almost universally retained, numerous features and enhancements have been added. Once approved by the FPL Global Technical Committee, this first production ready version of the standard will be officially pronounced a FIX Recommendation.
The beta period, specifically targeted at addressing the unique needs of the OMS community, ran from last summer through year-end, and actively reached out to a broad cross section of industry participants. Significant input and feedback was obtained from a variety of vendor, OMS, buy-side, and sell-side firms and included critically enlightening international input. The Working Group is deeply appreciative of all the great technical resources made available to the project, and the countless technical hours everyone so selflessly provided.
Based on a substantial volume of exceedingly high quality input, several substantial capabilities have been added, and hundreds of subtle refinements have been made. These include:
* Major new functionality to allow all types of dynamic screen behaviors including panels and widgets appearing and disappearing as needed, context sensitive functionality, alternate flow patterns, etc. This new functionality enables a much richer user interface experience.
* Refinements in validation including field-by-field validation, and final, entire-order validation.
* Capabilities for list orders (program trading) and multi-leg orders (e.g. cash bonds vs. a related interest rate future).
* Full encapsulation of an order, including all base order details. Everything is fully specified.
* New, easy to implement, web interface that supports substantial flexibility for pre-trade and post-trade analytics.
* Full, yet exceedingly easy to implement, multi-language capability for traders
Preliminary documentation is available immediately and final documentation is expected to become available shortly at the above URL.
Next on the agenda for the Working Group is re-engaging the algorithmic trading providers to assist them in publishing updated XML files of their algorithms using this enhanced, production ready FIXatdl format, and to support their smooth migration to the new, significantly expanded feature set.

There has been a bit of confusion regarding the latest set of FIXatdl Schema files.
As always, users must be logged in at FIX to access the files. Guests may register for free with just a name, email and firm name at: http://fixprotocol.org/register/ and immediately be able to log in.
AFTER LOGGING IN – go to:
http://fixprotocol.org/working_groups/algowg/documents
You will then see the Schema Documents Directory
Contained in that zip archive is a full set of updated schema files and HTML style documentation. This includes updates though the end of the OMS beta period. The most current files are dated 11/07.
