The FIX Algorithmic Trading Definition Language (FIXatdl), a markup language that works in conjunction with the FIX Protocol, is used to define the FIX interface of algorithmic order types. An algorithmic order interface description consists of:
- A description of tags that are to be included in FIX New Order Single, Order Cancel Request and Order Cancel/Replace Request messages that are to be sent to an order recipient.
- Rules for validating the data entered into an order form by a user.
- Suggestions on how to render GUI controls within an order entry form.
- Rules affecting the visual state of the GUI controls as information is being entered into the order form.
The FIXatdl Working Group was established in April 2019 with a goal of adding new functionality and addressing the requests for new features and changes that were collected. This proposal is intended to introduce changes to FIXatdl V1.1 , which address specific pain-points while limiting breaking-changes that would significantly affect existing OMS implementations and require new development.
The first release candidate documents (currently the Technical Proposal, a full specification will follow in due course) for FIXatdl V1.2 can be found here:
The proposed technical standard for FIXatdl is following the technical standards review process described in the document found here:
This first release candidate now enters a public comment period in which public review and feedback is encouraged. The public comment period will run for a period of 90 days beginning on the 16th of December 2020.
